“Pupils say that they are proud to belong to this warm and welcoming school. They are polite and well mannered.” Ofsted 2021
We value all children as individuals and celebrate those things that make us all unique. Children learn about how to look after themselves and others through PSHE lessons, Information Station Time and assemblies.
We teach children about the British values of democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law, and mutual respect, as well as the importance of having their own personal values.
Through events such as Anti-Bullying Week, we help children learn about positive, healthy interactions and how to learn from their mistakes. Children are taught about equality and diversity and how to show respect to all people.
We view school as an important place for children to learn about keeping themselves safe physically and mentally, including taking part in events such as Mental Health Awareness Week, Safer Internet Day, and road safety workshops.
As children progress through our school, we ensure that they develop not just academically but also have opportunities to develop skills for life. We do this through teaching the Characteristics of Effective Learning in the Early Years and Foundation Stage, and through our Skills Builder curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2. The key skills we teach are:
- listening and speaking
- leadership and teamwork
- creativity and problem solving
- and aiming high and staying positive.
